(07/09/10) We had a fun and exciting night of racing this last Friday at Rock Rapids. We have only made about 1 1/2 laps so far this year and were placed in the opertune spot of running double features from our first "unlucky night".

 

We had motor problems our first night out and did not get any lap time to speak of, then we found that they would run the double feature on a night that we would be running..... lucky? Luckier yet is that they let us tag the back of the first feature, even though we did not run a heat race. Lucky again..... (not so lucky for some) they have a big crash in the first lap of the first main feature and we missed the damage by a little, Lucky. We started about 15th and ended up with an 8th place finish on our first complete race. Not bad, but also not pushing anything. We also had to deal with motor heating issues and I ran out of tear off's about half way through this race. Tried to pick mud off my visor to see while racing.... not fun.

 

Anyway, we ran a heat race and worked on motor heating issues. Turned out fine, but nothing to brag about in the heat race. Started 3rd and ended 4th. The second feature had us starting in a comfortable 9th place spot and that held pretty well for most of the race. It seemed that every caution flag would drop us a spot or two, but still hung in there. I ended up passing a couple of cars in the last 2 laps to hang onto a 10th place finish. Not what I hoped for, but not out of the realm of first nigh bugs either. We did not change anything on the set up all night and that could also be factor to not moving ahead, but we used this night as a learning and testing phase anyway.

 

Payout for the night was positive and the car did not suffer any damage........ in racing terms, this was a Great night!.
