We ran at Husets for the season championship and our last race of the year. Not a bad draw and we looked to have a good chance for this night.
Does anyone remember my last comment about the last half of the year luck? It hit again.
The start of the heat race was way out of control. I was in the second row outside and when we got to the green flag, the car in front of me was bumped, got sideways..... looked to crash, then angled to the outside of the track. My role in this was stepping on the gas, then letting off to get rear ended hard, then driving to the outside to get around. End result was a trip into the wall with the right side of my car AGAIN. I knew the rim was bent because of the wobble, but they gave me my spot back after the bad start and a yellow flag. We took off good and had a good run going, even with the bent rim, but as luck would have it again...... I got pushed high, then my visor fogged up and made it hard to see, and then I also ran out of tear offs on my helmet. So with a fogged up, mud covered visor, I coasted into a last place finish with a damaged car.
Start the A-feature in dead last. Nothing to lose and extra tear offs on my helmet. Made up a few spots early and dodged a couple of wrecks, then I hit some wet stuff on the bottom of the track and spun out (bad year for that also). The rest of the race I just ran steady in the back. Nothing to brag about and not the way that I wanted to end the year, but as I said before and should have taken more to heart myself. With the way things have been going, it is not a bad idea to take what we have and start early for building into next year.
