We have a new car..... well not new, but it is a 2002 Maxim and it is not perfect. The price was good and we have all the parts to get us going for this coming year. It would have cost well over $5000 to get all this stuff brand new and we got a great deal from Greg Gunderson for under $1000 + a few extra parts that we needed.
We have mostly work to do and not a lot of expense to look at for starting the year, but everyone knows how the little stuff can add up fast, so I will try to get an updated racing resume out soon and start trying to collect a few sponsors for this year. I already know that Camel Press will be doing our lettering at no expense, other than his name on the car. That is our first lock in for the year. I am pretty sure that A-1 will give a little again this year and after that...... everything is up in the air.
I have a booth for the swap meet again this year and it has snuck up on me. We have this weekend to get things together and find out what we can get rid of. Then the 9th and 10th of January will be the swap meet. We do not have a lot to sell, but we have enough to try to gain a couple of updated parts for ourselves. Let me know if you can help move some parts there on Friday Jan. 8th.
Motor program is still a carry over from last year. The ASCS motor only had about 12 full nights of racing, so rather than bring it in for a complete rebuild again...... (the last 2 times, we were told that there was very little wear and it looked great), we will just clean it up and check a few things on our own. It should be ready to go for this year.
I am not sure what kind of workload we plan to do for this year yet, but I do not plan on a full season of 3 night per week racing. I am not even sure if I want to target a specific track yet. I have some ideas about racing for money, but that is hard to plan and never seems to work out. This is all open for discussion and debate.
I will start to update more often now and I am getting the itch a little more as the new year progresses and the corner turns toward racing season!
Late update: We just added a 2000 Schnee to the chassis group for this year, but the primary purpose will be for resale. It will still be used for racing this year, as that seems to be the best way to prove that it is a worthwhile car to buy. Look for this car to be at Rock Rapids in the HRA (no-wing) class and we will see how things go.
